Position Summary / 崗位職責(zé)概述

Science is a premier publication for the dissemination of scientific knowledge worldwide. The Deputy Editor, China manages the editorial staff and budget and is a member of the leadership team for the Beijing, PRC office. In addition to management responsibilities, the Deputy Editor fulfills the role of Research manuscript editor, identifying and selecting the top 5-10% of research papers within their sector that will significantly advance scientific understanding.

《科學(xué)》雜志是全球科學(xué)知識傳播的頂級出版物。中國區(qū)副主編負責(zé)管理編輯團隊與部門預(yù)算；除行政管理職責(zé)外，該崗位還兼任科研稿件編輯，負責(zé)篩選所屬領(lǐng)域排名前5%–10%的頂尖研究論文，甄選能夠顯著推動科學(xué)認知發(fā)展的高質(zhì)量成果。

Key Responsibilities | 主要工作職責(zé)

• Serve as Editorial leader in China; supervise all China-based Editorial staff.

  擔(dān)任中國區(qū)編輯負責(zé)人，管理所有駐華編輯人員。

• Meet regularly with other Beijing managers and promote teamwork with other heads of department in the Beijing office.

  定期與北京辦公室其他負責(zé)人溝通協(xié)作，推動跨部門團隊協(xié)同工作。

• Manage the evaluation, review, and editing of submitted manuscripts in materials science, specifically focusing on hard functional materials such as metals, ceramics, composites, and piezo/ferroelectrics.

  負責(zé)材料科學(xué)領(lǐng)域投稿的評估、評審和編輯工作，需重點關(guān)注硬功能材料（如金屬、陶瓷、復(fù)合材料、壓電/鐵電材料）。

• Decide whether to review manuscripts, select reviewers, and provide recommendations for manuscript revision.

• Ensure selected papers undergo rigorous peer-review and work with authors to ensure clarity and succinctness.

  確保入選論文經(jīng)過嚴(yán)格的同行評審，并與作者合作，確保內(nèi)容表達清晰、簡練。

• Commission, review, and edit timely review articles and write research summaries for publication.

  委托、評審并編輯具有時效性的綜述文章，并撰寫研究摘要以供發(fā)表。

• Propose solutions to problems that arise with manuscripts either before or after publication.

  針對出版前后出現(xiàn)的稿件問題提出解決方案。

• Represent Science and its Beijing office at national and international scientific meetings to recruit the best papers.

  代表《科學(xué)》雜志及其北京辦公室參加國內(nèi)和國際科學(xué)會議，邀約優(yōu)秀稿件。

• Establish and grow a comprehensive network of contacts within the research sector.

  在研究領(lǐng)域內(nèi)建立并拓展全方位的人脈網(wǎng)絡(luò)。

• Communicate with members of the Board of Reviewing Editors and assist in recruiting new members.

• Write summaries of research results for publication.

• Communicate with and provide suggestions to the Insights team.

• Collaborate with production, visuals, and press teams to prepare manuscripts for publication.

• Participate in joint projects with publishing, such as judging prizes and/or planning meetings.

Requirements / 任職要求

• Qualifications: PhD in materials science or similar and several years of post-doctoral research experience.

• Proven track record of publishing high-quality research papers in scientific journals.

Position Summary | 崗位職責(zé)概述

The Full-time Deputy Editor (FT-DE) for Science Advances is responsible for the strategic management of the manuscript pipeline, team leadership of Academic Associate Editors, and driving the journal’s academic influence in the fields of Biomedicine and Life Sciences, with an emphasis on cancer and/or immunology.

Key Responsibilities | 主要工作職責(zé)

• Manuscript Management: Responsible for the triaging of approximately 3,000 manuscripts per year.

• Quality Control: Maintain academic standards, ensure high-quality standards for peer review and final acceptance for all handled manuscripts.

• Team Leadership: Recruit and lead a team of 12-15 Academic Associate Editors (AAEs). Responsible for all final decisions for AAEs.

• Content Commissioning: In charge of strategizing new content to push the fields forward, including commissioning Review articles and commentary pieces.

• Conference Presence: Attend at least 10 conferences per year and lead workshops to advocate for the journal and recruit high-quality submissions.

Requirements | 任職要求

• Education: doctoral degree (or equivalent) in Biomedicine and Life Sciences, with specialty in cancer and/or immunology preferred.

• Experience: Strong academic background and familiarity with the international peer-review process.
